In 2017, Daniel Drapeau, President of Miralis, set foot in a business jet manufacturing plant. As he closely observed an aircraft being assembled, one particular detail caught his eye – the sophisticated cabinets lining the walls of the aircraft.
At first glance, they looked similar to the ones his team designs. But upon closer inspection, he discovered an optimized system where every technical component is seamlessly concealed, enhancing ergonomics. All the essential elements for passenger comfort – ventilation, lighting, entertainment systems – remain hidden. This sparked a question: what if this approach could revolutionize kitchen lighting? The idea took root. Why not integrate lighting directly into the cabinetry, just like in those aircraft where every element has its place? A simple concept, but one that had yet to be fully explored in the kitchen industry.
And so, Luminescence was born – a technology that makes cables disappear and reimagines lighting as an intrinsic part of the cabinetry itself. Five years. That's how long it took Miralis to turn Luminescence into a reality. This ambitious project was led by the innovation team, headed by Noémie Bernier. The goal was clear: to design an innovative, durable, easy-to-install product, entirely manufactured at Miralis. "From the beginning, we knew that Luminescence had to be more than just a simple improvement – it had to be a true breakthrough," she explains. "Our objective was to create a solution that naturally integrates into kitchens, without compromising on quality, efficiency, or aesthetics."
Every detail was carefully considered. The LED strips are integrated directly into the cabinets during production, discreetly embedded in precisely cut grooves. All the wiring is hidden, and the system requires only a connection to a standard power outlet. No technician is needed on-site. No modifications are required.
